Wilhelm Reich (March 24, 1897 – November 3, 1957) was an Austrian-American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, known as one of the most radical figures in the history of psychiatry. He was the author of several notable textbooks, including The Mass Psychology of Fascism and Character Analysis, both published in 1933.
Reich worked with Sigmund Freud in the 1920s and was a respected analyst for much of his life, focusing on character structure rather than on individual neurotic symptoms. He tried to reconcile Marxism and psychoanalysis, arguing that neurosis is rooted in the physical, sexual, economic, and social conditions of the patient, and promoted adolescent sexuality, the availability of contraceptives, abortion, and divorce, and the importance for women of economic independence. His work influenced a generation of intellectuals, including Saul Bellow, William S. Burroughs, Paul Edwards, Norman Mailer, and A. S. Neill, and shaped innovations such as Fritz Perls’s Gestalt therapy, Alexander Lowen’s bioenergetic analysis, and Arthur Janov’s primal therapy.
Later in life, he became a controversial figure who was both adored and condemned. He began to violate some of the key taboos of psychoanalysis, using touch during sessions, and treating patients in their underwear to improve their “orgastic potency.” He said he had discovered a primordial cosmic energy, which he said others called God, and which he called “orgone.” He built “orgone energy accumulators” that his patients sat inside to harness the reputed health benefits, leading to newspaper stories about “sex boxes” that cured cancer.
Reich was living in Germany when Adolf Hitler came to power in January 1933. On March 2, the Nazi newspaper Völkischer Beobachter published an attack on one of Reich’s pamphlets, The Sexual Struggle of Youth. He left immediately for Vienna, then Scandinavia, moving to the United States in 1939. In 1947, following a series of articles about orgone in The New Republic and Harper’s, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) obtained an injunction against the interstate sale of orgone accumulators. Charged with contempt for violating it, Reich conducted his own defense, which involved sending the judge all his books to read and arguing that a court was no place to decide matters of science. He was sentenced to two years in prison, and in August 1956, several tons of his publications were burned by the FDA, arguably one of the worst examples of censorship in U.S. history. He died in jail of heart failure just over a year later, days before he was due to apply for parole.
Arrested by the FBI
On December 12, 1941, five days after Pearl Harbor, Reich was arrested at his home at 2 a.m. by the FBI, and taken to Ellis Island, where he was held for over three weeks, because he was an immigrant with a communist background. He was furious, and blamed his first wife, with whom he had a very poor relationship, for having reported him in some way, though there is no evidence that she was involved. His psoriasis erupted, and his doctor persuaded the authorities to transfer him to the hospital ward, where Ilse was allowed to visit him twice a week. Wolfe and a lawyer did their best to find out what the charge was, Wolfe traveling several times to Washington to protest, but it was not until December 26 that a hearing was held, and still it remained unclear why he had been picked up. He was questioned about several books the FBI had found in his home, including Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Trotsky’s My Life, and a Russian alphabet book for children. Eventually Reich threatened to go on hunger strike, and he was released on January 5, 1942. The FBI released 789 pages of its files on Reich in 2000, which said:

Reich’s Discovery of Orgone Energy
Orgone energy was originally discovered by Wilhelm Reich in his psychiatric work. As a psychoanalyst and student of Freud, Reich’s point of departure was, quite naturally, Freud’s concept of libido. Libido is life energy, desire, the source of human striving. Reich developed the libido concept, concentrating on its physical expression and simultaneous psychological content, until he was able to show the relation of bodily attitude and emotion. This he described in CHARACTER ANALYSIS, a book which went further than any work in history in solving the mystery of the relation of mind and body.
The Life and Death of Wilhelm Reich
In the beginning, pre-civilization it seems and definitely before humans had developed higher thought processes, there was Sigmund Freud. The guy has produced copious volumes of mostly BS that many college students in pastdecades have been forced to endure. As to Freud’s credibility as a guide for others to live by, I have yet to see any photos of the guy where he wasn’t looking incredibly depressed and sad. I can’t imagine a worse person to listen to for the meaning of life, love, or to find the joy of living. Next there was Wilhelm Reich, a student of Freud.
Reich viewed Freud as being neurotic and the two men hardly got along. Reich discovered the connection between blocked sexuality and feelings, and the “muscular armoring” of modern “civilized” humans. Reich noted the tight jaws, shoulders, pelvises, the restricted breathing patterns, and the tension around the eyes of the patients he saw. Reich devised some techniques to help relieve the tensions, bring emotion, sexual feelings,and life back into the people who came to him. Reich also coined the phrase “genital character” to denote someone who was completely unblocked and sexually open. It turned out to be largely a “pie in the sky” ideal to be striven for, as it was an extremely elusive goal for his patients to reach.

Article 1 [Equality]
All persons in the Netherlands shall be treated equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, political opinion, race, or sex or on any other grounds whatsoever shall not be permitted.
Article 2 [Citizenship]
(1) Dutch nationality shall be regulated by Act of Parliament.
(2) The admission and expulsion of aliens shall be regulated by Act of Parliament.
(3) Extradition may take place only pursuant to a treaty. Further regulations concerning extradition shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.

Article 8 [Association]
The right of association shall be recognized. This right may be restricted by Act of Parliament in the interest of public order.
Article 9 [Assembly]
(1) The right of assembly and demonstration shall be recognized, without prejudice to the responsibility of everyone under the law.
(2) Rules to protect health, in the interest of traffic and to combat or prevent disorders may be laid down by Act of Parliament.
Article 10 [Privacy]
(1) Everyone shall have the right to respect for his privacy, without prejudice to restrictions laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament.
(2) Rules to protect privacy shall be laid down by Act of Parliament in connection with the recording and dissemination of personal data.
(3) Rules concerning the rights of persons to be informed of data recorded concerning them and of the use that is made thereof, and to have such data corrected shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.
Article 11 [Personal Integrity]
Everyone shall have the right to inviolability of his person, without prejudice to restrictions laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament.
Article 12 [Home]
(1) Entry into a home against the will of the occupant shall be permitted only in the cases laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament, by those designated for the purpose by or pursuant to Act of Parliament.
(2) Prior identification and notice of purpose shall be required in order to enter a home under the preceding paragraph, subject to the exceptions prescribed by Act of Parliament. A written report of the entry shall be issued to the occupant.
Article 13 [Secrecy of Communication]
(1) The privacy of correspondence shall not be violated except, in the cases laid down by Act of Parliament, by order of the courts.
(2) The privacy of the telephone and telegraph shall not be violated except, in the cases laid down by Act of Parliament, by or with the authorization of those designated for the purpose by Act of Parliament.
Article 14 [Property]
(1) Expropriation may take place only in the public interest and on prior assurance of full compensation, in accordance with regulations laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament.
(2) Prior assurance of full compensation shall not be required if in an emergency immediate expropriation is called for.
(3) In the cases laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament there shall be a right to full or partial compensation if in the public interest the competent authority destroys property or renders it unusable or restricts the exercise of the owner’s rights to it.
Article 15 [Personal Liberty, Arrest]
(1) Other than in the cases laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament, no one may be deprived of his liberty.
(2) Anyone who has been deprived of his liberty other than by order of a court may request a court to order his release. In such a case he shall be heard by the court within a period to be
laid down by Act of Parliament. The court shall order his immediate release if it considers the deprivation of liberty to be unlawful.
(3) The trial of a person who has been deprived of his liberty pending trial shall take place within a reasonable period.
(4) A person who has been lawfully deprived of his liberty may be restricted in the exercise of fundamental rights in so far as the exercise of such rights is not compatible with the deprivation of liberty.
Article 16 [Nulla Poena Sine Lege]
No offence shall be punishable unless it was an offence under the law at the time it was committed.
Article 17 [Right to be Heard]
No one may be prevented against his will from being heard by the courts to which he is entitled to apply under the law.
Article 18 [Right to Counsel]
(1) Everyone may be legally represented in legal and administrative proceedings.
(2) Rules concerning the granting of legal aid to persons of limited means shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.
Article 19 [Work]
(1) It shall be the concern of the authorities to promote the provision of sufficient employment.
(2) Rules concerning the legal status and protection of working persons and concerning co-determination shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.
(3) The right of every Dutch national to a free choice of work shall be recognized, without prejudice to the restrictions laid down by or pursuant to Act of Parliament.
Article 20 [Welfare]
(1) It shall be the concern of the authorities to secure the means of subsistence of the population and to achieve the distribution of wealth.
(2) Rules concerning entitlement to social security shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.
(3) Dutch nationals resident in the Netherlands who are unable to provide for themselves shall have a right, to be regulated by Act of Parliament, to aid from the authorities.
Article 21 [Environment]
It shall be the concern of the authorities to keep the country habitable and to protect and improve the environment.
Article 22 [Health]
(1) The authorities shall take steps to promote the health of the population.
(2) It shall be the concern of the authorities to provide sufficient living accommodation.
(3) The authorities shall promote social and cultural development and leisure activities.
Article 23 [Education]
(1) Education shall be the constant concern of the Government.
(2) All persons shall be free to provide education, without prejudice to the authorities’ right of supervision and, with regard to forms of education designated by law, its right to examine the competence and moral integrity of teachers, to be regulated by Act of Parliament.
(3) Education provided by public authorities shall be regulated by Act of Parliament, paying due respect to everyone’s religion or belief.
(4) The authorities shall ensure that primary education is provided in a sufficient number of public-authority schools in every municipality. Deviations from this provision may be permitted under rules to be established by Act of Parliament on condition that there is opportunity to receive the said form of education.
(5) The standards required of schools financed either in part or in full from public funds shall be regulated by Act of Parliament, with due regard, in the case of private schools, to the freedom to provide education according to religious or other belief.
(6) The requirements for primary education shall be such that the standards both of private schools fully financed from public funds and of public-authority schools are fully guaranteed. The relevant provisions shall respect in particular the freedom of private schools to choose their teaching aids and to appoint teachers as they see fit.
(7) Private primary schools that satisfy the conditions laid down by Act of Parliament shall be financed from public funds according to the same standards as public-authority schools. The conditions under which private secondary education and pre-university education shall receive contributions from public funds shall be laid down by Act of Parliament.
(8) The Government shall submit annual reports on the state of education to the Parliament.

Letter to Doctors 08/09/06

My name is *** ****** I am (was) 42 years old and i live in Israel. for the last 15 years i have been having back problems and pains, i have come across the mount Sinai neurosurgery page on the web looking for a solution to my problem. Once while i visited NYC i went and saw a neurologist, his diagnosis was that I had degenerative disk disease.
Since then the pain has gotten seriously bad and now there are many things I can not do any more because of it. In addition approx 18 months ago Ii heard a violent crunching cartilage shredding noise in my right hip & thigh, since then I have been told I ripped a muscle and that’s all. Me my back and hip area are seriously “out of balance” and so said the physiotherapist I am going to. I have been given pro-tenc machine and Duragesic patches for pain, but the patches makes me physically sick as was the case with Tramadex and all the other pillsI have been given.
I have been to all to many doctors here in Israel trying to isolate what is the problem and how do i fix it, how to get grips on the pain and the other strange things that are happening to my body because of the pressure on my spine.
I have a CT back (1999), MRI x 2 back & hip(2006), EMG x2 (2006) results and blood work. I would appreciate if i could send u the CD’s of the CT & MRI(s) to take a look at and tell me what u can do to help me or what else you need. i know this all may sound very strange but i don’t really know what else to do to help myself and my back pains are seriously affecting the way i live and raise my children.

*** ****** is suffering from long term back pain that radiates down to the legs, buzzing sensations in feet. lately feels buzzing down arms and shaking/trembling of the hands and feet. in the past he has been treated (I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED TREATMENT FROM ANY ORTHOPED OR OTHER DOC HERE IN ISRAEL) by orthopedist with CT 1999_ bulging disks c6-7 and l5-s1 on 20/6/05 he was checked by orthopedist at Bellinson hospital MRI was ordered from s1-d12. EMG was also done to arms and legs, EMG 14/7/05 mild lower limbs sensory neuropathy.,. mild rt CTS radiculopathy lt c5-c6,l5-s1. also suffers from vitamin b12 def.
AS OF THIS LETTER I KNEW NOT THE EVIL HORRORS THAT WERE IN STORE FOR ME.

Today my life and I, are nothing to compare with how we once were, my body and mind have often betrayed me. As with many others that I had learned to trust, value and rely upon, I have been cheated, lied to, abused and let down by them all.
I am a disabled veteran, I was drafted in to the Israel Defense Force during the 80’s and have served 20+ years in various qualifications and skill levels. During my many years of service in a special unit of the combat engineers. I was involved in many aspects of firearms, ballistics, explosives and demolition, to name just a few fortes among a repertoire of aquatic and dynamic entry skills.
Discovered after many years (15 +/-) of incompetent doctor visits and hundreds if not thousands of uncaring, self righteous doctors and $. I suffer from a body full of Fibromyalgia among other pain inducing conditions caused and aggravated by 20 years military service above and beyond all possible call.
The story is longer and gets more sinister as the plot thickens, but for that u will all need to wait until I can do more writing about what I have been through and where I want to go. I also have a ton of pages to load on my sniper section and this blog.
